Hello Ladies & Gents!

So it has been a while since my last post – sorry! So much personal stuff has happened and continues to happen, sadly not all good. <--- I feel like I've said this before! :-/

Sometimes it’s the small things that make me happy and inspire me to post. What made me happy enough to post today? Lipstick! Yup, just a silly but oh so pretty lipstick – ha I’m a weirdo. This winter I’ve been on a red lip kick. I wear it to work - morning, noon and night lol. Let’s face it a red lip is both classic and sexy. All you need is the right shade.

Anywho, MAC’s prior collections has not caught my attention but this new collection – MAC Shop / Cook did it for me.

It would be nice if I actually tell you which lipstick I’m talking about – right? Well its Runaway Red. It’s such a pretty blue red and the consistency is non-drying which I love (it’s a satin finish). Don’t get me wrong my number 1 red lipstick is still Ruby Woo but this one is right up there w/ it. If you love red lips def’ly go get this one if you still can.

THE MAKEUP SHOW EXPERIENCE

Hello Beauties!!! Hope everyone is doing well! :-)

As most of you already know on Friday, December 2 2011, I along with my friend Kennia attended The Makeup Show Pop-Up Shop. This was my first time attending anything like this. I'm usually unable to attend any of the other shows. I made sure I didn't miss this one. I think it was perfect for me being that it was small and not as big or intimidating as the other shows.

Being that it was my first time I did feel a bit lost yet right at home - make sense lol? It was an awesome experience either way. I def'ly plan on attending more shows.

It was hot, it was hella crowded and everyone was bumping into eachother which is how I met one of my favorite bloggers Danielle from The Style & Beauty Doctor. We literally bumped into eachother lol. I instantly recognized her and I became soooo nervous, she is the first fellow blogger that I've met. She's sweet and super pretty! THE MAKEUP SHOW POP-UP SHOP

Hello Everyone!

So I recently found out that the Makeup Show will be having a Pop-Up Shop open to everyone on December 2-3 in NYC. I have yet to go to any makeup show and I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to check it out. I’m only available to go on Friday December 2nd but I would have loved to go on Saturday December 3rd . Tickets are fairly cheap - $20 per person.

I’m super excited to go (If I go). I’m most excited about checking out OCC. I’ve wanted to pick up some Lip Tars for quite some time and never got the chance to do so. I’ll pick up several Lip Tars and give you my take on them. I also want to check out Crown Brush, and swing by MUFE. *fun*

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters

AMAZING! I'm loving this lip product! It's not a tinted lip balm but more like a super duper moisturizing lipstick! They're way more opaque than a tinted lip balm. They're so creamy and they don't leave your lips looking dry afterwards. So far I only picked up 2 colors but I def'ly plan on picking some more up. I found mine at CVS on sale (buy 1 get 1 50% off). Unfortunately they only had 3 colors available - bummer! Rumor is that they're a permanent product - hoping this rumor is true!!! :)

Only con about this product is since its so soft it tends get a bit messy and can melt very easily.

Hope everyone is doing well. Today's post is a DIY Basketball Wives Inspired Earrings. It's super simple to do and very inexpensive. The best part is you can create your own style, you can make them as simple as you want or wild and crazy w/ spikes. Cool huh?!

I bought my beads at Michael's and I also ordered some rhinestone spacers from eBay (I haven't received the spacers - boo). You can also find these beads at Etsy.

When searching for these beads online simply type "Basketball Wives Earrings" and a whole bunch of earrings and beads will pop up.

Anywho, TGIF!!!! Although it was a short week for me it felt like an eternity!! Glad it's over!!

As some of you may or may not know MAC is releasing a Muppets collection (I guess it coincides with the release of the movie). Who grew up watching The Muppets? *raises hand*

New Hair

Hello Again! 2 posts in one day - not bad huh.

Today is Columbus Day and I have the day off, hubs unfortunatey doesn't. I decided to get my hair done. It was over due!

I straightened it. I like curls in the summer n straight in the winter. It's just easier for me to manage. God didn't bless me with my moms hair but one good thing is that it grows long super fast! I actually don't take good care of my hair like I should but it hasn't failed me yet!

I walk into the salon and 4 hours later they send me on my merry way!

The process:
• Chemically straighten
• Sit n wait then wash
• Apply color to cover greys. The dye only lasts several washes. It's better n non damaging for my hair
• Sit under the dryer while color penetrates
• Wash off n condition
• Apply rollers then sit under the dryer for an hour - my least favorite part
• Remover rollers then blow out

Seems like a lot - right? SMH!

Anywho - here are some pics!

MILANI EASYBROW PENCIL

Hello Beauties!

Let me just say I am feeling much better!

Anywho, sometime ago I tweeted about going to a couple of Duane Reades to purchase Milani's Easybrow pencil and being told it was recalled / discontinued so they couldn't sell it to me. Well, I contacted Milani and they confirmed that this product has NOT been recalled nor are they discontinuing. The only color that has been discontinued is black. We're not sure why Duane Reade gave me false info but they have their people on it.

Hope this helps anyone who feared that this product would no longer be sold! :)

I finally was able to buy the product a few days ago @ CVS. I got dark brown and it's a good match for me. I mainly use eyeshadow to fill my brows but lately I've been applying my makeup on the train so a pencil is easier when "on the go". I briefly tried it and so far so good. It's long lasting, it didn't smear on my oily face and it applies like butter. I love that it has a brush on the other end of the pencil and it's water resistant. After much research I'm glad I went with Milani's Easybrow pencil.

Missoni For Target

Hello there!

So the Missoni for Target collection was released today! So many items are sold out. Their site crashed for hours. Lines were insane. Whoa! I didn't bother to run to Target since I heard the collection is available till late October. I'll pay Target a visit some other time. Perhaps this weekend. In the meantime I did give in an purchased myself much needed rain boots and an infinity scarf. I went with the black n white online exclusive design cause it's just more practical for me. I wear a lot of black.

Hello Beauties!!!

Who's ready for this upcoming long holiday weekend? I know I am! Hope everyone has a safe Labor Day weekend!!!!

I keep hearing so much about the SLEEK makeup line. I'm getting the itch to place an order but I'm trying to hold myself back from clicking the checkout button. I certainly DO NOT need any more eyeshadow!!!

For those who do not know what SLEEK is, it's a drug store makeup brand from the UK. I hear the quality is AMAZING and it's affordable. I recieved an email with what I assume is their new palette - Au Naturel. It's simply gorgeous. If I do crack and buy anything from Sleek is because of that palette lol!

MILANI LUMINOSO

Hello Beauties! Hope everyone survived what mother nature threw at us last week!

Last Friday I went to Walgreens to buy some stuff. I walked to the makeup section as I often do. I spotted this baby sitting all by herself! From what I hear Walgreens isn't carrying the Milani line anymore. Anywho, one of my all time favorite blushes is Milani's Luminous blush. I grabbed Luminoso thinking it's an "updated" baked version of Luminous. It isn't, it's gorgeous nonetheless but different!

Luminoso is obviously baked. It's a peachy color with subtle gold shimmer that delivers a glow to your cheeks. In the packaging it has some gold flecks but it really doesn't transfer onto your cheeks. Luminous on the other hand is on the pink side with a ton of gold shimmer that is obvious on your cheeks. It's often compared to NARS Orgasm. So far I'm loving Luminoso! Then again I'm a sucker for peachy / coral blushes lol! Milani has yet to disappoint with their blushes!

Hurricane Irene 2011

Tuesday we experienced an earthquake, it was the strangest feeling. This weekend we're getting a hurricane. What next? Us New Yorkers aren't used to all this. Am I afraid? Nope, not really. Just can't stop thinking about what else is to come!

Urban Decay Liner Fail...

So the other morning I decided to apply liner to work - which is rare. So I popped the cap off and out comes flying the actual liner. Seriously? What the fudge happened?! Good thing is this liner came with the Naked palette so I'm not as upset as I would have been if I paid $17 for the liner itself.

Nordstrom Rack Haul...

Today started off good then ended with not the best news. Needless to say I was pissed off!!! My day was ruined!! I decided to stop by Nordstrom Rack for some retail therapy before getting my brows done and meeting my buddy which sadly didn't happen.

The price was ummmm, AMAZING!!! Price tag said $225 but I only paid $89.97!!! Was it a mistake? Uuuuummm, I wasn't going to ask lmao! I paid and ran. I researched the price ranges online and saw nothing under $150 for this Michael Kors acrylic style! Can I say BARGAIN!!!

...and yes it's authentic for those who are wondering!!!

So the hubs suggested I get a new vanity tray for my perfumes. I defl'y agree! My old one is tarnished n about 15 years old. Prob is it was a gift from my mom in-law on my first x-mass with the family. I know I need an upgrade and I plan on doing so. I don't plan on discarding my old one tho. I'm sure I'll find some other use for it.

This is the one hubs suggested to me.

I sorta like the one with the gold instead.

What do you think? How do you store your perfumes? Mine sits on my dresser on a vanity tray - obviously :-p

Sasse Tip - Brush Holder

Do you love burning candles? Does your candle come in cute packaging that can be reused? Don't throw the candle holder away. Reuse it!!! Use it to burn other candles OR better yet use it for your makeup brushes!!!!

To remove the candle wax from its packaging simply put it in the freezer for a few minutes or soak in cold water. The cold will make the wax easy to remove. Mine popped right out.

After you remove the wax clean the jar / candle holder. Dry it. If you have plant filler pour some in. Rice will work also but it won't look as appealing. Rice works better with an opaque glass / holder. Voila - you now have a brush holder.

I have 4 other holders I bought from Michael's a couple of years ago but this method is much cheaper! I'll be using this brush holder to separate the dirty brushes from the clean ones.

MAC TURQUATIC

Hola beauties!

As some of you may know or may not know MAC is rereleasing Turquatic on Aug 11 2011. I've gone through several bottles of this perfume over the years. It's fairly small and cheap. The scent somewhat reminds me of D&G Light Blue. I've been told by several MAC associates that both men and women can wear this scent. I can def'ly see how. It is not a super sweet / feminine scent yet it's not a masculine scent. Make sense?

My take on the rerelease...
• My gripe is that the prices have gone up. I've always bought the 20ml for about $20-$22. With the rerelease the very same bottle is going to cost $27.50. I guess we'll be paying extra for the design they added.

• The good, it'll now be available in 3 different sizes. YAY!! Guess which bottle I plan on getting!

20ml - $27.50
50ml - $49.50
Rollerball - $20.00

I took photos of my bottle so that you can see how small it actually is. Keep in mind the perfume is encased in the clear section if the bottle it does not go down to the bottom/black part of the bottle.

I'm excited about this release. Like I said, I've always loved this perfume and I'm happy there will be size options.

Hello everyone.

I just wanted to post my weekend in pictures. It was awesome n very exhausting!

Friday the hubs n I picked up the little one n went to see Harry Potter. It was cool. It was my first HP movie so with no history of it I was lost!

Saturday was the most exhausting. I remember once loving to shop now its overwhelming to me. She wanted Tom shoes, apparently I want a pair now too cause they're so comfy lol! Anywho, we had Starbucks, sat in the park n caught up, shopped then met hubs for dinner! Oh yea n she fell asleep at the dinner table! SMH!

Sunday me, hubs, the parentals n my mom's BFF went to Lake Tiorati. So relaxing n not ghetto like Lake Welch! I love being surrounded by all things nature. We swam, soaked up the sun, played dominos n bbq'd.

Hello lovelies!

I first heard of this perfume on YouTube and I've been Googling it ever since. Apparently I don't think it's released yet in the US. #sad

I'm a sucker for perfume bottles. I'm a sucker for a great smelling perfume - PERIOD! Always have been!

I haven't smelled this perfume yet but OMG how friggin cute is the bottle?!!! Seriously! I hear it smells like a more mature version of Princess and if that's the case I'll take 2 bottles! Ha, well not 2 but you get the point. Princess smells soooo good and if Lovestruck smells like it I'm already in love.

Anyways, I don't have much info on this perfume yet except that on the site blog it says it'll be out by this summer. Until then I'll patiently sit and wait!!!

FASHION'S NIGHT POUT!

Hello beauties!

I recently tweeted about this and I wasn’t going to make a post about it but I’m sure there’s someone out there kicking themselves for not being able to get their hands on this lipstick.

Fashion’s Night Pout was ONLY available on Fashion’s Night Out 2010 @ Rag & Bone with a $50 donation. Yes, $50 for a Revlon lipstick but hey, it was for charity so that should justify it –right? I heard of it but really didn’t pay any mind to it. I didn’t give it a second thought, it was one of those eeehh whatever products IMO. Not sure what it was but everyone wanted this lipstick and it was almost impossible to track down. Well it “was” impossible to track down, I happened to literally bump into it @ Sear’s. Yes, Sear’s of all places!!! I hear some places have it now. It was the only one and I snatched it up!!!

Now, here’s my take…

Although it is a pretty nude and if you love nudes you’ll love this but really. What was the hype all about? This color can def’ly be duped (I’m thinking Myth, VG Gaga 2 and Soft Nude). When I swatched this next to Revlon’s Soft Nude it was almost identical. That’s just my opinion tho! The colors are so alike you can hardly tell a difference except in certain lighting. The difference is Soft Nude is on the peachy side and Fashion’s Night Pout is on the Pink(ier) side and honestly on my lips you can’t tell the difference. Not even the packaging is different. Do I like it? Yes I def’ly do, I won’t lie, I love nudes but I just think that it is NOT a unique shade, def’ly not one to go crazy over.

This weekend was awesome! One of my favorite things to do is hang out with my husband! After 14 years we still have fun!!! We love to go out to dinner and we talk n gossip for hours! He is indeed my best friend!

Feathers seem to be the “in” thing now. Whether you’re wearing them on your ears, around your neck or your hair it doesn’t matter but you just “need” them. I do own 2 pairs of feather earrings but I must say I love my feather hair extension the most. It’s different, it makes a statement, they're fun to wear and people love them. I have received so many comments from random people on the street. They’re def’ly an attention getter.

BARE ESCENTUALS - WELL RESTED

Hello Gorgeous!

This is somewhat of a random post, one that I did not plan on writing. I was randomly sorting thru my stuff and decided to put on some Well Rested for eyes and text the picture to my niece since she always complains about her dark circles. I originally had planned to text her the picture but I decided to share it with you instead.

I decided to dab just a bit on my concealer / makeup free, tired eye to show (my niece) exactly how much coverage this offers on its own. Usually when I use it I dab it over concealer to set it using a concealer or blending brush and the results are AMAZING. My dark circles are POOF - gone!!

Why do I love this? Well, as you can see it covers well on its own. A little goes a long way!!! It's a fine, yellow based powder and it does an amazing job @ concealing my dark circles (as you can see). It sets my creamy concealer. This doesn't settle into fine lines and it brightens my eyes making me look more awake - yay!

Now, what I had a bit of trouble with as you saw / will see on the video was the cap. I had trouble opening the polish because the cap (it wasn't the cap but the plastic wrapper instead) kept twisting. A lovely viewer commented on the video and said if I take off the plastic wrap I wouldn't have that twisting problem. Now, are you supposed to remove the plastic or not? Is it suppose to be part of the packaging? I'm confused! I tried to remove the plastic wrapper and it was difficult. I made the hubs do it for me. Now the polish looks plain. It doesn't have that crackle design on the cap to make it stand out from the rest of my regular polishes. I like it with the wrapper instead. I guess it's your choice on whether you want to remove it or not.

Overall, I like this crackle. The application is thin compared to Black Shatter but that's due to the watery consistency. I'm hoping that it dries up a bit with time. I tried applying a thicker coat and I found that the crackle isn't the best. I applied 1 thin coat and this was the result - not too bad. For the price I give this 2 thumbs up! I plan on purchasing more colors!!!

Weekend Purchase

Most of you know that when it comes to shoes I tend to steer away from heels. I love them, I think they make you look tall, lean, sexy and it gives the butt a lift. Unfortunately, it never fails, every time I wear heels I fall! My last accident which involved me taking a tumble down the stairs scared me from ever wearing heels!!! Last time I wore them was about 6 yrs ago *gasp* I know! Don't get me wrong there are a ton of AMAZING flat shoes but let's face it, they don't do for you what heels can!

Anywho, I walked into target and found myself at the shoe dept. These shoes stood out to me. While the hubs wandered off I tried them on. I was surprised at how frigging comfy they were. Wedges gives u support that heels do not AND they made me look ummm - SEXY! For $30, hey why not. I'm hoping they get me comfortable enough to where I can one day where heels again. In the meantime wedges it is. I'm in love with these little inexpensive babies!!! I love that I can dress them up or down. My summer footwear consists of ONLY flip flops but these wedges will just add some spice to my collection!

I'm super curvy and I don't mind!!!

Why do I call it My Friday Purchases? Well cause that's when I do most of my shopping! I never venture into the shopping world after Friday lol, I'm usually too tired to do so. My commute to work involves 2 hrs each way on the train and taking the train to the city on the weekends has become my least favorite thing to do! It's a shame. Anywho, here are some accessories I bought.

I saw this hat and I loved it! If it would actually fit my bighead I'd love it even more!!.

Ha! Both mom and this hat are adorable - right? I love that I can dress it up or dress it down, either way it's a very girly and cutesy hat! The lace detail is what got me.

Mom HATES these earrings, I say she just doesn't get it! LoL! I saw these a few months back, I was about to pay for them but I changed my mind, I later regretted it. I saw them back in stock and I grabbed them and took them home with me! Yes, they may be a bit "out there" but with the right outfit I know I could work them!

Yes more feather earrings! They're just too awesome!! I figured the neutral color goes with everything so why not grab a pair!!

These are very noisy / jingle-y lol. I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out these babies tho since they're more "wearable" than the actual feather earrings, yet I can still have that feather theme / look.

OBSESSED with this! I just wish they had it in black!

Sick Again...

Hello!
Hopefully you're feeling much better than I am. This post isn't about anything beauty related but it's my blog so I get to post what I want - right? :-)

Anywho, I keep telling my friends I'm getting old and I'm falling apart. I seriously feel that way! It's like I'm always sick and with no reason!

Monday I experienced one of the worst pains ever. I thought:
1. It was gas pains so I popped two GAS-X pills. It didn't work!

2. I figured if I "TRY" to sleep it'll be gone by the morning. It def'ly wasn't gone and new it was time to make a trip to the ER.

After much testing and being on a bed for more than 10 hrs it was confirmed that I had Kidney Stones! I was having a FML moment! Currently I'm not in much pain but I feel sore. It does hurt when I cough n when I'm on a bumpy car ride but the pain is nothing like it was on Monday & Tuesday. In the meantime I'm focusing on getting better! I'm on antibiotics for some inflammation and I'm drinking tons of water!

Not pretty at all! The docs n nurses kept poking me cause they said "I couldn't resist, your shirt says to poke you". It was funny at first but then it got annoying lol!

Hello beauties!

Some of you know I love mascara and I'm always trying out new ones. I gave Maybelline's Falsies a try some time ago and I thought it was just ok. I wasn't blown away, yet I kept hearing people rave about it. I decided to give it a try, a different formula this time.

I was running extremely late to work, woke up super late and therefore I had no time for makeup. I left my makeup bag at home so yea, I couldn't even apply it on the train. Before getting on the train I decided to stop by my local beauty store to pick this baby up...

As soon as I got on the train I applied it. Made a mess in the process. A moving train + unsteady hand + mascara = a mess! Lol. Hence why you'll see my hands a bit dirty.

My thought was "hmmm I'm liking it so far". It was just opened so it was a bit too liquidy for me but usually mascaras dry up after several uses. So I just have to give it some time.

I applied 3 coats. It def'ly gave me length and some volume. So far I'm happy with it, much happier than I was the first time that's for sure! I'll continue to use it and we'll see if this makes it to my top mascaras list :-)

My "Springy" Day 4/26/11...

Hey beauties!

Hope everyone is well!! Did you get to enjoy the gorgeous weather we had yesterday? I tried making the best of it. I worked a full exhausting day. I decided to make an appt @ SHOBHA Madison to get my brows threaded. I LOVE that place!!! The service is amazing, it's a bit pricey $20 (compared to what I've paid elsewhere) BUT it's soooo worth it! I say you have to get your brows done by every girl since they all have their own style of doing them. Stick with the one you like best. Manju is def'ly my girl! Shobha is so colorful and inviting...

After getting my brows done I stopped by Starbucks, ordered then sat outside by a water fountain to enjoy the NYC air. Soooo relaxing!!!

Iced chai tea latté & a chocolate chip cookie

I then stopped by H&M to get some bracelets. I felt like I needed to update my collection. Didn't get much but got enough to keep me up to date with the current "bracelet trend"! Everything was super cheap!

I'm 98% sure that I'll be removing the seashell off the bracelet. I think it's a bit much, I havent decided if I'm going to take off the heart as well. We'll see...

Clean Makeup Brushes

One of my least favorite things to do, besides laundry is cleaning brushes. Although I do hate it it is extremely important to clean them. I usually clean my liquid foundation brush after each use. I tend to spot clean all my other brushes every other use and I deep clean them every week! It's a must, I can not stress that enough! Bacteria can grow on your brushes and cause your skin to do funky stuff like break out - pimples ewwww! Who wants pimples? I know I don't!!! Keeping your brushes clean will help prevent this so PLEASE keep your brushes clean! A mild soap like baby shampoo is all you need!!

Catch'n Up!

Hello there!

I have some free time @ work and decided it was about that time to update my blog. Things have been so hectic. This has been a trying year, and it’s only the beginning!! Scary! I’ve been feeling a bit down but I swear this cold weather has a lot to do w/ that. Cabin fever!!! I’m ready for some nice weather!!! Days where I can get up and take a nice walk with out bundling up! I miss the days when I can just sit on a park bench and soak up the sun. It’s spring and it DOES NOT feel like it – sad!

This weekend was stressful but for the most part I made the best of it. Yesterday was my hubby’s birthday. I took him to Dinosour’s BBQ – OMG it was delish!!! If you’re from NYC or are visiting NYC I recommend that you stop by. Everything was DELISH but my fave was the mac n cheese, sweet potatos and sweet potato pie. I over ate but who cares, I’ll work it out later :-p

So if you've been keeping up w/me you're probably tired of hearing me talk about Katy Perry, shatter and or crackle polish. I'll "try" and make this short and sweet!

Out of the entire collection I felt that this color, Last Friday Night, lacked oomph! Not only was it very sheer but it didn't have that multi colored (3D glitter) that Teenage Dream has. I decided to add some more glitter. I added MAC glitter in 3D Silver.

Foundation Exp Date...

I was recently asked how long one should keep makeup before it goes bad. Well you can google this and get different answers. I'm going to go with 12-18 months depending on the type of foundation and how often it is exposed to bacteria. Hence why I rather go with a squeeze tube or preferably a pump. What I do is I write down on the bottle the date I bought/opened the bottle. I do have to say that I also go by smell and texture. Funky smell is def'ly no bueno. I'm more careful to follow rules when it comes to face n cream based products for the eye and mascaras. You DO NOT want pimples or an eye infection due to bacteria infested cosmetics. With that being said don't forget to wash your brushes as well!!!! With lipsticks I also play the smell n texture game. I've bought new glosses that have gone bad faster than some of my older ones. I'm guessing the formula has something to do with that. As for eyeliner/lipliner pencils, well you can sharpen them n that fixes that problem. As for my powder products I keep those forever. I've never had a problem with them going bad.

**SASSE TIP:: If you don't use your liquid foundation often (like me), you can put it in the fridge to make it last a lot longer.

SIMPLE GUIDELINE
Oil-free foundation: 1 year
Cream or compact foundation: 18 months
Concealer: 12-18 months
Cream blush: 12-18 months
Cream eyeshadow: 12-18 months
Liquid eyeliner: 3-6 months
Mascara: 3 months!!!!!!
Lipstick: 2 years+
Lip gloss: 18-24+ months

KATY PERRY - SHATTER, CRACKLE - OH NO!

I swear it was not meant for me to have this polish until now! I went crazy searching for the Katy Perry collection. I mainly wanted the shatter polish. It wasn't until recently that I realized how pretty the rest of the collection was. Ofcourse it was sold out EVERY WHERE. I waited for the China Glaze Crackle collection to come out. I pre-ordered all the colors. I was happy! Finally, I'll be able to get my hands on some crackle polish. What happens? UPS lost my package and there was no replacement because it was sold out. Just my luck. So I gave up! Oddly enough my friend found a beauty supply by her neighborhood that had a shipment of the Katy Perry polish collection I couldn't be happier so she got me some and I purchased some. Finally, I have the much talked about shatter polish. Well, I have it but don't have it. It's in my friend's house BUT I'm comforted knowing that "I have it". *sigh of relief* I should also note that I am now seeing the collection every where. SMH!

I got all the polishes except the burgundy color.

If you have seen my nail posts you'll see that my nails have been dark. Frankly, I love my darks and different shades of black polish but I think I've had enough! Enough of the cold and enough of the dark and dreary polish. I need Spring in my life and so I decided to do a nice light Spring-ish color. It doesn't get any better than lavender.

...this is a nice opaque color with some pink pearl, which the camera failed to pick up. I only applied 2 coats but looked nice with 1.

Purse Organizer - It's a MUST!!

Hello my pretties!

Hope everyone is well! As for me, well I've been going through ups and downs. That's life tho - right?!

Anywho, I'm at work and our entire system decides to crash! This left me with spare time on my hands so I decided to clean out my purse! I have made "a what's in my bag" video but I don't think I went into much detail about one of my favorite items! A purse organizer I bought last year @ the container store, retails for $19.99...

I originally bought this for my LV Speedy 30. If you're familiar with the bag you know it's droopy, roomy and everything gets lost inside! I love this organizer so much I transfer from purse to purse. It makes the transition soooo much easier! I carry my life in my purse yet I keep my bag extremely organized, as I do everything else lol!

So I've been on the search for Katy Perry's Teenage Dream nailpolish. I haven't had much luck and heard Strobe Light was a good dupe minus the pink. I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. I'm such a glitter girl. The more sparkle the happier I am. This polish def'ly does it for me. This would look great over another polish but I was too lazy!

It took me 3 coats to get the effect.

GAGA 2 FIRST IMPRESSION

I woke up extra early and went to MAC @ Grand Central because lucky for me they open @ 8am.

So I got the gloss & lipstick. As soon as I got on the train I took my mirror out and applied the lipstick. First impression? Looks like other lipsticks I already have (and like). MAC's Creme d'Nude came to mind but once I get home I'll swatch and compare the two. Then while at work I was taking pictures of it and it darned on me that this also looks like Revlon's Soft Nude, Soft Nude being a bit more pinky/peach. See...

I also think that paler girls should def'ly test before buying the lipstick. It can have that "dead" look which personally I like but it's not for everyone IMO. A smokey eye and this lipstick will look great - that's just me.

The gloss is a bit more darker and seems more wearable.

Overall, if you're into nudes then you'll want to add this to your collection BUT I'm sure you'll have similar colors.

I plan on swatching my other other nudes and do some comparisons once I get home so STAY TUNED.

• moisturized
• applied MAC MSF Natural in medium
• MAC honour blush which is just gold shimmer
• applied bareminerals well rested on my dark undereye circles (love)
• set everything with MAC Fix +

• LIPS - revlon in Soft Nude

• BROWS - anastasia brow powder

MY MAKEUP REMOVAL

Hello All,

Last night as I was washing my face it darned on me that perhaps I should make a post on how I remove my makeup. Everyone has their own way. Mine is as follows...

THE BEFORE

CLEANSE OFF OIL
I take this and massage my face with it. Cleanse off oil does not leave an oily residue behind which I love. I massage my face with this only, NO WATER. Doing this breaks down the makeup, foundation and all. It is safe to use on the eyes but I like Mary Kay's eye makeup remover instead.

YUK!!!!

CETAPHIL
I then rinse off the oil and use my CETAPHIL facial wash with a brush, a gentle facial brush. I am a believer of and always have used DOVE soap but I started using this recently and I actually love it!

After I wash I take a paper towel to dry my face. I figure it's better instead of using my regular body towel. Probably just me *shrug*. Sometimes I may use a toner after drying my face but I'm too lazy and often skip that step.

MOISTURIZE!!!
When I'm done with the cleansing process I MOISTURIZE my face, eyes and lips!!! Yes oily skin needs to be moisturized too. This is what I've been using...

What do I look like afterwards? Fresh, clean face and all...

Yes that is my red, moisturized not so happy face! Scary huh!

Well first off HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to those that are celebrating. I'm not, I started my morning saying I'm the V-day Scrooge lol.

Anywho, I usually don't wear a full face of makeup for work but I had bought this...

INSTANT CUTICLE REMOVER

I bought this @ Duane Reade for about $6. I'm really impressed with this product. Makes removing my cuticles a breeze. I usually don't cut my own, I rather go to the salon to get it done but I can def'ly use this as maintenance. There's no scent, no burning no nothing and it gets the job done. 2 thumbs up!

POLISH FUSTRATION...

Bought this Zoya polish in Edyta. Tried it, thought it was ok. Left it on my nails for a bout a week.

Ok, so now it's time to remove the polish (2days ago). They were chipped, it was time for a change. I wanted to do a nice pink color for V-Day. To my surprise this is the horror left on my nails from 2 days ago...

Now what? My nails are stained. I tried everything and nothing seems to help. I've never EVER had a polish do this to my nails. Highly disappointed!!!!

REVLON CRYSTAL LILAC

It's been a while since my last post. Had my little surgery and I'm all well now!

I just wanted to share my latest love with you. REVLON COLORBURST GLOSS

Drug store makeup have REALLY stepped up their game! I had a similar color to this by CHANEL and I have to say I'm loving the consistency to this gloss much better. It's not tacky/sticky and it lasts.

Color may seem clear but it isn't. It's a very very light pink with a bluish lilac sheen. Very pretty and great for everyday. Perfect for Spring.

BLACK SWAN FACE CHART

MATTE NAIL POLISH RANT

So here I go again with a polish post.

I won't blame it on the brand because I own other matte polishes from different brands. I must say that MAC by far has thee worst matte polish I own. Why do I continue to buy matte polishes? Because:
1. I love the matte polish look especially during the winter.
2. In hopes of finding a matte polish that actually lasts!

I wish there was a better matte formula *sigh*.

I painted my nails a little after midnight last night and here we are 6:30pm and this is what my nails look like. A HOT MESS!!!! This is with minor wear and tear. I did not abuse my nails nor have I washed dishes which usually is the cause of my polish chipping.

I suggest if you want to use a matte polish pick an occasion, possibly do your nails that same day because I can guarantee you'll be disappointed if you paint them the night before.

The search for the perfect matte polish continues. This includes a top matte coat!

I know I'm hella late in posting this but I am now trying out this polish. I know people are / were having a hard time finding this but there are still plenty available around me.

MY TAKE
• Unique purple / grayish color with subtle shimmer.
• I found the formula a bit runny and really didn't think it would last. 7 days later and my polish is now starting to chip but it's very minimal.

This color was def'ly either love hate with everyone. If you can still find it and can appreciate a unique polish I say GET IT!

2011 BEAUTY RESOLUTION

I've been thinking allot about this. I see it asked in many different blogs and it just made me wonder. I do not like making resolutions because the truth is we never follow through. Still I decided to make one...

I've been sorta in a makeup rut. I realize I have so much yet very little of it gets used! One of the main reasons is because during the week day I work. My work environment isn't fancy, it doesn't require for me to get all fancy shmancy. It's a warehouse environment, it's filthy, I'm one of 3 females the rest are all men. The job leaves no room for looking pretty. Although I do work in the office I often have to get dirty. I wear sweats, sneakers and boots to work so that should say it all. On the weekends I'm usually stuck at home.

My resolution is to use up more of my products even if it's very minimal. A little powder, mascara and gloss won't be so bad. So what if I work at a dirty, male dominated place, a girl still has to look pretty - right? I'll be a pretty dirty girl lmao!

The other resolution is to take better care of my skin. I do the basics and thank god I don't have any more acne issues but I seem to have lost that youthful glow. I want to treat my skin well. Exfoliate, detox, drink more water, treat it with love! Besides I'm not getting any younger, if I don't take care of it now I'll regret it down the line

So those are my beauty resolutions for 2011. Nothing major but let's see if I'll keep up with it :-) lol!

Concealer Review - Comparison

I'm dedicating this post to my awesome niece Tiffany. She's the reason why I tried this concealer.

Tiffany texts me one day and says that she bought a concealer from MAC. I ask which concealer she bought and she says the MUA suggested she buy the new Pro Longwear concealer (ofcourse she would, it was released that week so she had to push the product). My first "inner" reaction was, aaaah they suckered her in. My second question was what color, they gave her a NW20 which I find odd because that's the shade I wear and I'm a shade darker than her. Keep in mind that Tiffany isn't into makeup, she's a 20 year old, party girl, college student who spends most her nights studying and works, all which contribute to dark circles and that was her main complaint. She also has amazing skin so she doesn't need anything super heavy. I instantly knew that the Pro Longwear concealer wasn't right for her. I felt like it was way too heavy and she wouldn't have control of the pump which often gave waaaay too much product. Anywho, I decided to go and get her another concealer which I thought would be user friendly but also would give her the coverage she needed / wanted. I went with STUDIO SCUPLT.

Unfortunately, I never got to see Tiffany so that I can give her the concealer. The Pro Longwear Concealer fell out of her bag and broke and she bought another concealer which she is much happier with.

I decided to use the Studio Sculpt concealer instead of returning it. Can I just ask why hadn't I bought this concealer before?! It's AMAZING!. My concealer of choice has been Studio Finish which is also good but not as creamy.

STUDIO FINISH: Full coverage, super thick with a dry consistency. I often find myself warming the product on my skin so that it applies smoother. Great for blemishes!! It's also good for the eyes BUT you have to make sure your eyes are well moisturized if not it can look a bit on the cakey side.

STUDIO SCULPT: This is now my favorite concealer. The consistency is like butter! So creamy and blends flawlessly. On the MAC site it says it's full coverage but on me, not so. I'll say it's medium but definitely buildable. I did find that although it's the same color as my Studio Finish it seems a tad bit darker. I can definitely get away with using a NW15 for a brightening effect.

CONCLUSION: I'm in love with Studio Sculpt!!! The end!!!

Hello all! Hope your holidays were great! As for me I've definitely had better! For Christmas hubby was sick so it was just him and I, me playing nurse, him sleeping. For New Year's Eve the tables were turned. He was the nurse and me, well, I was a mess. Not how I planned my holidays but sometimes we have no control over nature. Although I didn't do any partying it was nice spending it at home with the hubby. Just sucks that I have soooo much to do and this cold isn't letting me do it. Who knows, maybe this is god's way of saying relax, slow down!

I'm having yet another sleepless night and I can't help but to reflect on this crazy year - 2010. I had some lows but also some amazing highs, one being...

...this past July I had the privilege of assisting one of my buddies (a very talented makeup artist by the name of Rick) at a fashion show hosted by ANTM Bianca Golden (cycle 9). MY FIRST FASHION SHOW EVER! I helped with makeup, prepping, I moisturized the male models body - it was a lingerie & swimwear show so we couldn't have them walking the runway with ashy skin lol!! It wasn't a "big show" but nonetheless it was an amazing experience. Flashing lights, loud music, gorgeous models, the rush of prepping, the behind the scene drama no one really gets to see, oh my! It was definitely an adrenaline rush! My buddy took me under his wing and taught me several tips & tricks that night and for that I will always be grateful.

Today was a terrible crampy day! Lord, does this ever get better? The past few cycles have been good, today felt like it made me pay for those good days!!! Thank god I'm not at work, I have the option of being in bed ALL DAY!!! Yay for weekends!

How do you treat your cramps? As for me Midol usually works but I didn't have any so I took ADVIL instead - it made me sick *barf*. A hot pad helps immensely but I can't find mine - go figure. Hubby uses it and it goes MIA *le sigh*. Some Chamomile tea would have def'ly done me good!

I personally have not had that problem BUT its still too early to tell. I will let you know if that changes. This was compared to LADY GAGA'S VG lipstick. Here's a swatch I don't think they're the same but you tell me.

I may actually like this more than GAGA's. Yikes, did I just say that?! Lol. Don't get me wrong, both will get equal wear but Nicki's is more wearable for me.

• Primed with L'OREAL primer from their Studio Secrets line
• Applied MAC's Studio Sculpt foundation in NW25 with the 187 brush
• Concealed eyes & blemishes with MAC's Studio Finish concealer using a Sephora fluffy blending brush
• Used ELF's blush and bronzer duo applied with the 109 brush

EYES
• MAC's Vanilla e/s from brow bone blended down to the lid using a Coastal Scents shadow brush
• WnW Color Icons in Nutty on lid and a bit on the lower lash line applied with MAC's 217 brush (I'm LOVING this Taupe eyeshadow! So easy to blend and you can wear this alone. There's something about this shadow that makes it appear as if you are wearing more than one shade - beautiful)
• YSL Faux Cils mascara in 1 High Density Black
• Lined rim with Urban Decay's 24/7 pencil in Whiskey
• Brows - Anastasia brow powder in ebony applied with MAC's 266 brush

EYEBROW TUTORIAL

I finally got around to making an eyebrow tutorial - yay! I'm still not fully comfortable watching myself on camera because I become my worst critic. If I can sit there and criticize myself I can only image what others will do / say lol. Nonetheless, I friggin love making videos and I can only hope to be able to do many more of them. If I can help someone out by sharing some of my tips and tricks then hey, why not - right? As for the haters, and there are many, I will only laugh at you! So bring it lol! I know the YT community has become bombarded with a ton of haters and it's sad!!

Anywho, I hope you enjoy my video!! I decided to start with a brow tutorial because brows are soooo important IMO! It's the main focus of your face, again IMO. Whether you have makeup on or no makeup your brows will make you look polished. It frames your face. I try my best to always do my eyebrows, most of the time it's the only thing I do. It makes such a difference! If you don't do them yourself I highly recommend going to a professional to get them waxed or threaded and shaped. Shape is just as important! I go to Shobha! Google them, they have several locations in the city (NYC). They're a bit pricey but it's so worth it. The service is amazing and everyone is super friendly!
